5. Tests/Quizzes: Students will have tests at the end of all short stories as well as at the various intervals throughout novels. Students are required to be able to verbalize their responses through the written word. Most tests are essay/short answer response. They will occasionally take multiple choice tests.
6. Homework: Students will have homework three or four times a week. Students are asked to refrain from using online assistance for their homework. Students are typically assigned study guides to assess their understanding of the text.
7. Projects: Students will be assigned projects throughout the year. Students will be required to use various media presentations: PowerPoint, Google Presentation, Prezi, Wiki, Weebly, etc. Most projects are group projects. Students are expected to participate and assist in the production of their group project.

- Curriculum Overview: Students will read many different genres of literature throughout the world. They will look at short stories, poetry, novels (both historical non-fiction and fictional). Students will be asked to analyze the text and be able to connect the text to their real world. We constantly add a Scriptural approach to the literature being studied.

- Class Work: Students are expected to complete the daily reading assignments as well as the daily journal writing assignments. Students will spend time reading text both in class and out of class. They are asked to think at a higher level of understanding when analyzing the text. Students are also expected to connect the text to Scripture.
- Grading: Grades will follow RLS’s scale outlined in the handbook.
